Join the first Multi-City Music Census Cohort

Sound Music Cities invites you to be part of its first multi-city music census cohort of up to 25 cities featuring:

  • Directly comparable datasets

  • Post-pandemic music industry recovery status

  • Unique-to-city opportunities and constraints

  • Collaborative problem-solving sessions

The cost per city is $18,500. Join the growing list of cities moving into measurement and action to build your music ecosystem. Communities fund the music census through community foundations, local non-profits, chambers of commerce, tourism offices, downtown associations, city government, or a combination of these entities.

Hold your spot in the cohort with your $5,000 deposit. The cohort opened in June 2023 and runs through June 2024. Join by September 1, 2023. All cities will start their Census within the first 10 months (by March 2024), with strong encouragement to start before the end of 2023 in order to maximize the benefits of the Cohort.

Our Music Census™ collects key data points to better understand music people and their economic activity within a specific geography. It provides a baseline for policymakers and the larger community to understand and take action.

  • Measure your music ecosystem with a data-driven census

  • Benchmark with other music-friendly cities

  • Peer-Peer Learning sessions, facilitated by Sound Music City Expertise

  • Expert coaching from North America's most experienced music ecosystem census team.

Getting started is easy. Set up an exploratory call (30-60 minutes). We’ll provide you with an overview of the census process, discuss specific considerations for your city, identify who might be the contracting lead partner/entity for your city, and address other questions you may have about how to get started.

Sound Music Cities will guide you through every step of your Census.
