Kansas Music Cities Together

A statewide cohort strengthening local music ecosystems across Kansas

Kansas Music Cities Together is a year-long, cohort-based program designed to help Kansas communities better understand, connect, and support their local music ecosystems. Led by Sound Music Cities, in collaboration with the Kansas Arts Commission, Kansas Music Cities Together brings together 6 to 8 Kansas communities for shared learning and technical assistance. The program is supported by Movement Musick and is designed to meet communities where they are, supporting local leaders through shared learning, coordination, and practical tools.

From the High Plains to Northeast Kansas, this year’s cohort spans the state: Norton, Belleville, Hays, Russell, Garden City, Salina, Hutchinson, Emporia, Wichita, Manhattan, Topeka, Lawrence, and Wyandotte and Johnson counties.

Local leaders in each community are mapping their music scenes, joining monthly coaching calls and statewide workshops, and building toward local pilot projects backed by matching grants from the Kansas Arts Commission. In September, the whole cohort gathers at Somewhere Festival & Conference in Wichita.
